Renting a bike

Pick a bike on the Rent tab of the catalogue, choose when you pick it up and bring it back, check the price, and press Book. You pay in the shop when you collect the bike; the app only records the price.

When you can pick up and return

Pick-up and return must both be during opening hours:

day hours
Monday to Friday 09:00–18:30
Saturday 09:00–16:00
Sunday and public holidays closed

The bike may stay with you overnight and over closed days; only the moments you collect and return it must fall within opening hours.

More rules:

To see which bikes are free for a period, use Check availability on the Rent tab: it lists the free bikes with their price for exactly that period.

How the price is calculated

Every bike category has an hourly rate and a daily rate. The daily rate is a cap:

  1. Every started hour counts as a full hour (1 h 10 min is 2 hours).
  2. Every full 24 hours costs the daily rate.
  3. The hours left over cost the hourly rate each, but never more than the daily rate.

Example for a city bike at CHF 8 per hour and CHF 35 per day:

rental calculation price
1 hour 1 × 8 CHF 8.00
3 hours 3 × 8 CHF 24.00
5 hours 5 × 8 = 40, capped at the daily rate CHF 35.00
26 hours 1 day (35) + 2 × 8 CHF 51.00
3 days 3 × 35 CHF 105.00

The bike page shows this breakdown as a quote while you choose the times. Your booking keeps the price you were quoted, even if the shop changes its price list later.

The deposit shown on the quote is taken in the shop when you collect the bike and given back when you return it.

Returning early or late

The shop works out the final price when you bring the bike back:

Cancelling

Under My rentals and orders, press Cancel on a booking. Cancelling is free as long as the rental hasn't started.
